Spring is right around the corner and that means PNW weather is getting warmer, days are getting longer and change is upon us! It’s time to leave the cold depression of winter behind and jump into new, exciting relationships. Spring is a great time for dating in Seattle and recently I have been speaking with many of my clients who are currently dating someone they have met through us, but it’s still too soon to give their status a “title”. For those who may be in this new stage of a relationship or about to be there, here are a few helpful pieces of advice that might come in handy during this fun, yet confusing time period!
- Keep the momentum going.
Now that you’ve made it past the first date and you have seen each other a few times, make a plan to see each other at least once a week. Communication is very important in between dates, but seeing one another in person is even more important. How can you build a connection solely through text conversations that only seem to go nowhere? Make the time to fit one another into your schedule, even if you’re busy with work and family obligations.
- Keep your confidence.
It’s not a mystery to either of you that you may be going on dates with other people if you haven’t had “the talk”. Just because you know the person you are seeing is still dating other people it doesn’t mean they are not serious about the potential you two have. Exploring other options can be a good thing! This can actually help strengthen your relationship and help both of you realize you are serious about one another.
- Be honest.
Don’t lie about seeing other people. This will only create distrust in your new, budding relationship. We all know that some things are better left unsaid, so discussing other dates with the person you have been dating regularly may not be the best move. However, honesty is definitely the best policy. Letting them know that you are wanting to take things slow and that you are still dating other people is the best way to avoid any unneeded arguments. One of you may not be ready to make that leap into relationship status quite yet, but it doesn’t mean you won’t be ready in the future!
